THE INS & OUTS

OF PIERCING

  • Whilst we prefer appointments to ensure we allocate enough time for the piercing service you’re after, we still accept walk-ins! Just try giving us a call prior if possible (even if it’s 10min before) to let us know you’re coming in.

  • Yes, everyone is required to bring government-issued ID to their appointment to be uploaded to your consent form. We will not pierce you without ID.

  • Depends on the piercing.

For most piercings you need to be 16+ with parental or guardian consent if you are under 18. This includes bringing your guardian with you to the appointment where they will provide their government-issued ID and a separate form of ID to prove relationship (usually a Medicare card or birth certificate), this will be attached to your consent form. If your guardian or parent is unable to come with you to the appointment (e.g. if they reside elsewhere) shoot me a message and we can discuss your options.

Lobe piercings are 5+ with parental/guardians’ consent.

Nipple piercings and dermal anchors are strictly 18+, no exceptions.

  • We use sterile single-use needles for all piercings! Piercing guns can’t be sterilised, they aren’t as sharp as needles thus causing blunt force trauma to the tissue, and quality jewellery can’t be inserted with a piercing gun.

  • Short answer - it depends.

The jewellery we pierce with is internally threaded titanium jewellery that has been pre-sterilised. Unless you can prove that the jewellery you bring in is from a reputable manufacturer, we cannot guarantee the grade or quality of the jewellery therefore we cannot pierce with it. However, if you’re interested in changing the jewellery once it heals to one of your own pieces, we can definitely help you with that! In fact, we recommend coming back in to see our piercer when you’re ready to change out your jewellery to ensure the piercing is fully healed and ready to be changed out.

  • These are usually irritation bumps! We recommend coming into the studio so we can determine the cause of the irritation to eliminate it.

Common causes of irritation bumps are accidently knocking or sleeping on the piercing, incorrect aftercare and incorrect or low quality jewellery. Read more in-depth about this here.

  • Aftercare differs based on the piercing and we ensure to go through it during your appointment so we can answer all your questions and discuss a routine that works with your lifestyle.

You also get emailed a copy of a comprehensive aftercare guide with your consent form. For safe measure, I have also included a copy of the guide here.

  • Depends on how old your piercings are and how well-healed they are! Crustiness is a normal part of the healing process, and most piercings take between 3-12 months to settle and heal. If you’re concerned about an excessive or abnormal amount of crustiness, come into the studio and we’ll check it out. It may be a result of incorrect aftercare or jewellery. The important thing is not to pick at the crustiness, you want to avoid touching your piercings as much as possible as the wound needs the crustiness to heal (think of it like a scab).

  • Pain is subjective, especially when it comes to piercings! What hurts one person may not hurt the other. Any pain caused by a new piercing pain is temporary and ultimately a small price to pay for the everlasting bling. With the correct aftercare (and attitude) they should heal seamlessly.
