FIRST TIME GETTING PIERCED?

Here is your step-by-step guide on what to expect getting pierced for the first time!

Step 1: Decide on a piercing

Decide on which piercing you want to get done and make an appointment. Note that not all piercings are viable on all clients, so we’ll assess your anatomy at the start of your appointment to make sure it’ll heal well. You can also check out our insta for piercing and jewellery inspo ideas!

Step 2: Eat and be well rested

Before your appointment, make sure you’re well-rested and have eaten in the last four hours. Avoid partying the night before, alcohol can make your blood nutrients deficient meaning your piercing will take longer to heal. The day of your appointment don’t drink an excessive amount of coffee or energy drinks. Caffeine thins your blood making it more difficult to clot. Reschedule your appointment if you wake up feeling unwell.

Step 3: What to wear to your appointment

It totally depends on what you’re getting pierced but here’s a rough guide. If you are getting an ear piercing and you have longer hair, tie it up to avoid it interfering with the piercing procedure. If you are getting a facial piercing don’t bother wearing makeup in that area, as it will be wiped off when your skin is cleaned prior to the piercing.

For body piercings, wear clothing that is loose, so the tight fabric doesn’t irritate your fresh piercing and constrict blood flow. Wear clothes that allow easy access to the piercing site to ensure you’re comfortable during the piercing process.

Step 4: Before the piercing

Upon arrival for your appointment, you’ll be required to fill out a consent form. This form is thorough, and you’ll be asked to provide your personal details, photo ID and answer questions relating to your health and medical history. The latter is important because it informs the piercer of any pre-existing conditions that will affect the healing of your piercing. Please be honest with your piercer about your medical history, just because you have a health condition does not mean you won’t get pierced, it might just require you to consult your doctor or a medical professional prior.

Step 5: During the piercing

We’ll have a chat about the piercing and discuss the healing process, your lifestyle, and I’ll check out your anatomy. Then comes the fun part, you get to pick out the jewellery! The actual piercing doesn’t take long at all, and I’ll talk you through the process as it’s happening anyway to calm your nerves. We pierce with single-use, sterile needles, and all the equipment is pre-sterilised for your appointment.

Step 6: After the piercing

After your piercing, I will discuss the aftercare with you. The instructions also get emailed to you. If you follow the aftercare correctly, your piercing should heal without any issues. Then you can make an appointment with us either to change out your jewellery or stop by for your next piercing!
